A Shrinking Pie in the Sky - Strategies in Palestine
The Palestinians who continue their attacks are not trying to 'wreck'
any peace process. They are trying to counter a pattern of encroachment
which constantly works against them, and on which the peace process has
no effect.Israel's good-will gestures, however sincere, concern
everything *but* this encroachment.

Palestinian caution is warranted
Late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat always refused to accept any deal
that left Israel with 100% of Jerusalem and large swaths of the West
Bank. He insisted on some limited right of return for Palestinian
refugees and creation of a viable, independent state on the West Bank
and Gaza. Abbas remains mute about these issues.

responded.

Israel in a Middle East Union: A "Two-stage" Approach to the Conflict
The Israeli public, battered, scared, caught in a lose-lose situation
but convinced by their leaders that there is no political solution to
the conflict, has taken itself out of the equation. It is passive,
waiting for outside intervention to resolve things. That leaves us—the
Israeli peace movement, our partner Palestinian peace-seekers, Diaspora
Jews, and other members of the international civil society—to join
together to defeat occupation and displacement, just as we defeated
apartheid. As the old saying goes: When the people lead, the leaders
follow.

Israel's latest land grab is part of an old strategy
The injustice of this legal sleight of hand is so apparent that,
uncharacteristically, the Americans have put pressure on Israel to end
the policy. Despite evidence that the Attorney General Menachem Mazuz
oversaw the government decision last year, he now claims never to have
been consulted. He has ruled that the decision be cancelled, although
Israeli legal experts say the government could still press ahead as it
is acting within the law.

Keenan comments on Linda
Belanger's article, "Irshad Manji's Trip to Israel"
With the
vast amount of accurate and well documented information so easily
available, there is simply no excuse for Irshad Manji, an educated,
seemingly intelligent woman, to be so woefully misinformed regarding
the Palestinian/Israel conflict. For whatever reason, she has
decided
to peddle Israel/zionist fiction.

ghost haunts UN Commemoration of Camp Liberation
David Ben Gurion, the father of the State of Israel and its first prime

all the children in Germany by bringing them over to England, and only
half of them by transporting them to Eretz Yisrael, then I would opt
for the second alternative. For we must weigh not only the accounting
these children, but also the historical accounting of Am Yisrael'
NJSol:
Zionism is the Issue: Building a Strong Pro-Palestinian Movement In the
US
Freedom for Palestine will not come as a result of a solution imposed
by the U.S., Europe, or any other power: it will come from a struggle
for liberation waged on the ground--both in Palestine, and in the
region surrounding it--or it will not come at all. A solidarity
movement that is genuine must find effective ways to support that
struggle.
