BBC News - UN denounces Israel cluster bombs

The UN's humanitarian chief has accused Israel of "completely immoral" use of cluster bombs in Lebanon.

UN clearance experts had so far found 100,000 unexploded cluster bomblets at 359 separate sites, Jan Egeland said.

Himmelstein - Taking the "T"-word back from B'nai Brith

Frank Diamant, a man who knows what's right and wrong, wants to get proactive about "pro-terror sympathies." As reported by the redoubtabe Israpundit, the Executive Vice President of B'nai Brith Canada, is outraged at "an alarming trend whereby elements within Canadian society are openly challenging Canadian law to express support for terrorist groups like Hezbollah that are banned in this country."

Torstar - Dialogue is the quintessential Canadian `measured response

There are many reasons why Canada should talk with Hezbollah: Most of the world outside North America and Israel does not consider Hezbollah a terrorist organization — the Canadian government only agreed to list the group as terrorist after intense pressure by the U.S. and the Israeli lobby.

UCC - United Church Adopts a Pro-Peace Investment Strategy for the Middle East

Thunder Bay: Meeting in Thunder Bay, Ontario, August 13-19, 2006, the 39th General Council of The United Church of Canada has adopted a pro-peace investment strategy that delegates hope will contribute to the realization of a just peace in Palestine and Israel.

(Comment - THIS IS DIVESTMENT. Incredibly the Canadian Jewish Congress participated in the UCC General Council assembly in Thunder Bay and through backroom manipulations managed to have the name of the motion changed from Divestment to Pro-peace Investment. One participant at the convention told Canpalnet that the participants were solidly behind divestment. More on the struggled to pass this motion here.)

Syd Ryan - Dialogue the first step

Instead of an open and healthy exchange of viewpoints, we have organizations like B'nai Brith attacking individuals and organizations for merely showing up at public demonstrations.

Following an Aug. 12 anti-war demonstration in Toronto, Frank Dimant, executive vice-president of B'nai Brith Canada, accused Ali Mallah, vice-president of the Canadian Arab Federation, of supporting terrorism.

Adala - Canadian Arabs urge government to take Hezbollah off the terrorist list

The decision to add Hezbollah to the list was made after a concerted campaign by pro-Israeli special interest groups and after a smear campaign that was shown later to be full of lies.

Canada.com - MPs say terrorist label bad for peace

When asked if he was in favour of Hezbollah being taken off the terror list, Etobicoke Liberal Borys Wrzesnewskyj said: "Yes, I would be." He likened the situation in the Middle East to Northern Ireland, where "if there wasn't the possibility for London to negotiate with the IRA, you'd still have bombings . . .

(Fellow Canadians: Be worried, be very very worried - our right to freedom of speech and opinion has been dramatically eroded. Borys Wrzesnewskyj has been forced to resign as Assistant Foreign Affairs critic for making the above statement. Are you speaking out? "First they came for the Jews, but I wasn't a Jew so I did not speak out, then they came for the communists...... ")

Palestinian and Jewish Unity (PAJU-Montreal) - Kindly SHUT UP, Mr. Baker

So Alan Baker, Israel's Ambassador to Canada, dares to criticize Gilles Duceppe for attending the August 6 Montreal Rally for Peace in Lebanon.

(Comment: Israeli ambassador Alan Baker takes it upon himself to criticize Canadian government policy and Canadians on a regular basis. This would be considered completely unacceptable coming from the ambassador of any other country.)

Amnesty International - Israel/Lebanon: Evidence indicates deliberate destruction of civilian infrastructure

Amnesty International today published findings that point to an Israeli policy of deliberate destruction of Lebanese civilian infrastructure, which included war crimes, during the recent conflict.

B'nai Brith Canada advocates curtailing right to freedom of speech and assembly

Commentary: The latest trend by the Canadian Jewish Congress, B'nai Brith and the Zionist controlled media is to call people who participated in demonstrations demanding a ceasefire in Lebanon as Hezbollah supporters who must be stopped from engaging in terror activities.

Whether you feel that Hezbollah is a terrorist organization or not, this article should frighten all Canadians.

United Church Reverend tells it like it is - ousted by his own Church

We are sick and tired of the pro-Israeli government lobby in Canada telling us what to understand about the 'security' issues of Israel. We are fed up with the biased press that focusses on one abducted Israel soldier and not on the numerous unreported assassinations and abductions of Palestinian citizens whose human rights are daily violated. Israel is out of control. You may not like to hear that said. It is true. [Ousted]

World Council of Churches: Israel planned to destroy Lebanon

Israel's assault on Lebanon was planned even before Hizbullah attacked and was aimed at driving a wedge between the different faiths that have been living in harmony in the country, a delegation from the World Council of Churches said on their return from a visit to Beirut and Jerusalem. ...

The World Council of Churches represents 348 Protestant, Orthodox, Anglican and other churches and works cooperatively with the Roman Catholic Church.

Comments to G&M Forum regarding Israeli ambassador's suggestion that Canada help patrol the coast of Lebanon

In spite of the media spin, Canadians know who the terrorists are.

More interference in Canadian matters by Israelis and their supporters:

CJN - "Politicians criticized for joining anti-Israel rally "

"MONTREAL - Israeli officials sharply criticized Quebec provincial and federal politicians who participated in a huge rally in Montreal Aug. 6 protesting Israel's military action in Lebanon.

G&M - The politics of morality

Goaded by polls that show an overwhelming majority of Quebeckers disapprove of the Harper government's pro-Israeli stand, Quebec politicians, including the Quebec wing of the Liberal Party of Canada, are shamelessly exploiting the Middle East conflict.

(Comment - This article exemplifies the latest tactic in the Zionist arsenal: trash Quebeckers for their support of Palestinian and Lebanese rights.  It seems that causing division in Canada is worth it if it is necessary to defend the indifensible.   Oooops.  I think a just accused them of DUAL LOYALTIES. That is a NO NO - anti-semitic - as are plain facts such as Israeli is in violation of 65 UN Resolutions or Desmond Tutu has described Israel's policies towards the Palitinians as worse than South African Apartheid)

Extra! Extra! The Gazette Supports Israeli Aggression in Lebanon and Palestine

Montreal, August 15, 2006 – On the morning of Tuesday, August 15, approximately 30 activists from Montreal entered the lobby of the Gazette's downtown office to begin a demonstration. Being the same day that a certain American war criminal was due to speak at a conference in Montreal, the demonstrators were determined to send a message to the staff of the Gazette that this would not be normal work day.

Global Research.ca - UN ‘Israeli War Crimes' Vote Reveals the West is Isolated

The Western media focussed on the irrelevant and ‘unanimous' UN Security Council ‘ceasefire' vote, which only guarantees the fighting and slaughter will escalate. Another UN vote within hours of the ‘ceasfire' vote – of immense significance and hardly touched-upon in the Western media – exposed the real world-wide divisions and alliances embroiled in this global Lebanon war. In a crucial 27-11 vote, the UN Human Rights Council (UNHCR) condemned Israeli war crimes and agreed ‘immediately despatch a high-level Inquiry Commission to Lebanon'.

(NOTE: Canada voted against the motion)

New Statemen - Green thinking: How Israel lays waste in the eco-war

It is a measure of the scale of Israel's atrocities against the Lebanese
that the worst environmental disaster in Lebanon's history has gone largely unreported in the midst of all the death and destruction. "Chances are our whole marine ecosystem facing the Lebanese shoreline is already dead," laments the country's environment minister, Yacub Sarraf. "What is at stake is all marine life in the eastern Mediterranean."

Cotler and CJC blast Arbour's comments on Israel

Liberal MP Irwin Cotler, Canada's former justice minister, has challenged suggestions by a senior Canadian United Nations official, Louise Arbour, that Israel may have broken international law and committed war crimes during its current military offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Ten Rules for Reporting on the M-E conflicts

No. 1: In the Middle East, it's always the Arabs that attack first and Israel that defends itself. That's called retaliation.

No. 2: Arabs, whether Palestinian or Lebanese, have absolutely no right to kill Israeli civilians. That's called terrorism.

New Zealand Herald - Israel arrests prominent Hamas politician

Israel has arrested a senior Hamas leader at his home in Ramallah, expanding its original front against the Palestinians in Gaza.... In addition to regular deadly raids on Gaza, where 1.4 million Palestinians are trapped by an economic blockade, the Israelis have arrested a third of the Hamas government and 36 members of the Palestinian parliament since 26 June.

Guardian UK - Lebanon: Israel Wages War of Starvation

Israel is waging a ``war of starvation'' on Lebanon's civilians in an effort to force the government to agree to Israel's demands, Lebanese President Emile Lahoud said in a statement issued Friday.

His comments came after Israeli warplanes bombed bridges and roads in Christian neighborhoods north of Beirut, killing five civilians and making travel between suburbs increasingly difficult.

90 Canadian Health Professionals - Statement of Concern for the Public Health Situation in Gaza

As Canadian health professionals, we are deeply concerned by the silence of the Canadian government and the Canadian media about the humanitarian disaster in Gaza. We are calling on the Canadian government and the media to truthfully recognize the humanitarian situation and to respond with compassion and effective help.

NDP - Recall Parliament over government's failure to call for immediate ceasefire in Mideast

NDP Leader Jack Layton and NDP Foreign Affairs and International Development Critic Alexa McDonough (Halifax) today called on Prime Minister Stephen Harper to reconvene Parliament if his government refuses to call for an immediate ceasefire in the Middle East.

CSmonistor - Hizbullah's attacks stem from Israeli incursions into Lebanon

As pundits and policymakers scramble to explain events in Lebanon, their conclusions are virtually unanimous: Hizbullah created this crisis. Israel is defending itself. The underlying problem is Arab extremism.

Sadly, this is pure analytical nonsense. Hizbullah's capture of two Israeli soldiers on July 12 was a direct result of Israel's silent but unrelenting aggression against Lebanon, which in turn is part of a six-decades long Arab-Israeli conflict.

Johal - Is Israel any safer now?

Neither party to this dispute has the right to continue in this direction without international opprobrium levelled at them.... Israel has no moral right to call itself a victim, nor does Hezbollah have the moral right to call themselves freedom fighters. .... Both parties to this dispute are engaging in fundamental lies which are killing innocent civilians every day.

Chronicle Herald - Stephen Harper and the world: hanging out with wrong crowd

That Hezbollah started it is true if you read only last week's news. If you had read the news of even the previous few months, you'd find that Israel had been on a campaign of assassinating Hezbollah and Hamas leaders, in reaction of course to a previous outrage, which was caused by a prior counter-outrage, and so on, back to the very founding of Israel when two-thirds of the Palestinian population was deported to make way for the new state.

UNICEF - Gaza crisis must not be forgotten

Mr. Rohrmann said 35 Palestinian children have been killed in Gaza over the past month, with almost a quarter of them under 10 years of age. He added that since the second intifada began in September 2000, some 912 children have been killed, including 119 Israeli children.

Zayid - Zionist Designs on Lebanon

Zionist designs on Lebanon are longstanding. At the Versailles Peace Conference, in Paris, in 1919, the World Zionist Organisation submitted its official plan for the creation of a Jewish state in Palestine. The submitted map included the entire area of Palestine, the Southern part of Lebanon to the Litani River, the Syrian Golan Heights and the East Bank of the Jordan River, to the railway line. This design explains clearly the continuing expansionist Zionist programme which, so far, has accomplished the control of all of Palestine and the Golan Heights.
