The Canadian Charger - Anglican priest against Israel as Jewish state

Said Assaly, “Israel has a right to exist in peace and security, but not as a Jewish state. That added condition was Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's ploy to undermine what Obama is trying to achieve.” Then he added, “Could we call Canada a white state or an English state?” Referring to the fact that Arabs, 20% of the Israeli population, carry ID cards indicating that they are not Jews, he asked, “Are they not full citizens?”

G&M - Israel targets Palestinian-Canadians

A tough Israeli crackdown that discriminates against some American citizens because they are of Palestinian origin has been sharply protested by the Obama administration, but the same treatment curtailing freedom of movement for Canadian citizens has produced no response from the Harper government.

Rabble.ca - 24 hours in Gaza

(Report from by MP Libby Davies (NDP) on her visit to Gaza - Liberals used to make such reports but that started to change under Paul Martin and is completely non-existent under Michael Ignatieff. )

You never know in advance what it is that will get to you, so I am surprised that for me, it's the Karni industrial area. It's not the parliament building, a cascading wreck of concrete, nor the shelled and bombed houses, nor the horrendous refugee camps (800,000 of Gaza's 1.5 million population are refugees) that have existed for ever. Nor is it the garbage, dead animals here and there, and the vacant empty buildings with broken windows and doors hanging off. It's this industrial area in the north-east part of the city - flattened and obliterated by exiting forces of the IDF. In the last 48 hours of the war they left via this area and destroyed it on their way out. There were 4000 factories and industries. Now there are 250.

United Church of Canada - No National Boycott, but Churches Encouraged to Act

Kelowna: While officially backing away from declaring an outright
boycott against Israel, the 40th General Council of The United Church of Canada has left the door open for that action to emerge from within its constituencies across Canada.

(Intense lobbying and even threats by the Canadian Jewish Congress to break off ties with the United Church no doubt contributed in some measure to the defeat of this montion. What is important is that the UC council "has stated its encouragement and recommendation to its member bodies, that they are free to study, discern, and pray, and to undertake their own initiatives, which may include economic boycotts as a means to ending the occupation [of Palestine]," It is well known that the more people learn about Israel and Palestine the more they see the injustice being done to the Palestinians. THE BDS BALL IS ROLLING FORWARD EVERY DAY - IT CANNOT BE STOPPED.

Background: As usual the Israel lobby and Zionist owned media organizations have gone all out to conflate criticism of Israel with anti-Semitism.

Embassy Margazine - Double standard Middle East Policy

....our government is prone to making statements asserting political support for Israel while offering Palestinians aid that many observe ultimately works to support (Israeli) military security at the price of (Palestinian) human security.

Minister Cannon reaffirmed $4 million in aid to Gaza humanitarian relief, but delegated the bulk of the funding to efforts aimed at propping up President Abbas' ailing government. For example, a Department of Justice lawyer confirmed that the department is on the verge of signing a contract with CIDA which would give the Canadian Justice Department $20 million to provide training and other support to the Palestinian Attorney General's Office.

Shniad - Understanding the smearjob that was done on the Durban Review Conference

The government of Israel responded to the anti-semitic actions of a few marginal NGOs which participated in Durban by branding the entire WCAR – widely seen as a high water mark in the international battle against racism – as an anti-semitic “hatefest”. This became the pretext for Israel and its allies to walk out of the conference in an attempt to prevent Israel's behaviour vis-à-vis the Palestinians as well as other vitally important matters from being addressed.
