CPNO - Open letter to Stephane Dion

We understand and support your attempt to reach out to every religious and ethnic community. However, there is a difference between walking in support of the Jewish community and walking in support of Israel . Your walk in support of Israel in Montreal and Toronto reflects badly on the Liberal Party as many people view such acts as endorsing Israel 's apartheid policies.

Guardian UK - UN aid chief attacks new Israeli checkpoint plan

The head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees launched a scathing attack today on a new Israeli plan for a system of checkpoint terminals across the occupied West Bank. ... Under the new system, UNRWA expects the annual cost of transporting and delivering aid to treble from $220,000 (£110,000) this year to $720,000 next year.

CPNO - CAIA Statement Congratulating Ryerson Students' Union

The Coalition Against Israeli Apartheid (CAIA) warmly congratulates the Ryerson Students' Union (RSU) at Ryerson University, Toronto, for its successful efforts to promote and deepen discussion around the academic boycott of Israeli apartheid. The RSU has convinced the university administration to launch a debate around this issue despite an earlier statement by the University President that he was opposed to academic boycott.

PAJU - Before the lights go out in Gaza

Gazans now receive water only every other day. When a power outage in a given area occurs on a day when the municipalities channel water to it, the houses are denied water for three, and sometimes even four, days.

NCCAR Demands Transparency From the Harper Government on Proposed “Mutual Security Agreement” with Israel

Reports have confirmed that a temporary agreement was reached to establish three teams: One to focus on fighting terrorism, another to work on border security and a third to work towards co-operation on crime fighting techniques. ...

A letter was faxed to the Minister's office on Monday November 5. “While here at home, all citizens are equal in the eyes of the law, in Israel , state laws are based on the religious and ethnic background of Israeli citizens.”

“Having a mutual security agreement with a country that grants rights according to religion and not citizenship is worrisome and should be the subject of parliamentary debate and oversight,” said Réghaï.

[Background]

(Now that Stockwell Day and his Israeli counterpart are promoting co-operation on security matters between their the their two countries, does this mean that Israeli spies will be carrying genuine Canadian passports instead of the forgeries they have used in the past?)

Haaretz - Twilight Zone / 'We saw death a thousand times'

Ynet - Decision to exert pressure on Hamas by denying entry to sick Palestinians immoral, inhumane

(The author of this article is Chairman of Physicians for Human Rights. Ynet is an Israeli publication - rarely are such condemnations published in the Zionist controlled Canadian media.)

Ever since Hamas' Gaza Strip takeover we have encountered an increasing number of rejected applications by sick Palestinians. ... On many occasions, patients facing life-threatening diseases are also refused entry. The decision to exert pressure on Hamas on the backs of Gaza residents, and particularly the ill and weak, is not only immoral and inhumane. It will also serve to boost the hatred and support for the most radical alternatives.

Greg Felton - Remember, remember the 29th of November— The Zionist Nakba and Plot

.... the poppy has become a symbol of hypocrisy, and the moral lesson of the World Wars is now a perverse anachronism that is exploited to justify the sort of cruelty we fought against:

“The men and women who died in these wars gave their lives so that we today could live free from tyranny. But do we seriously believe that our soldiers, airmen and sailors fought against Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy and Imperial Japan only to bequeath to us a world terrorized by Israel, the U.S. and Great Britain? What right do we have to indulge the conceit of our own virtue when we have become the enemy and are doing to Arabs and the Middle East what Hitler did to Jewish Europeans and Europe?”

David Noble - The Israel Lobby Strikes Again: Revelations from the Rancourt abitration

...Shulamit Day-Savage sent an email to U of O professor Pierre Anctil complaining about Rancourt's email. In particular, she expressed concern about Rancourt's reference to a guest lecture by U of O professor Michel Chossudovsky, in which he included several links to websites attacking the guest lecturer as a self-hating Jew because of his criticism of Israel. Day-Savage took exception to Rancourt's note that such websites illuminate 'how Zionism intimidates free thinkers."

Uri Avnery - The Mother of all Pretexts
(Excellent summary of the evolution of Israeli myths spun to avoid peace over the last 60 years including the most recent and most dangerous "Clash of Civilizations".)

The struggle between Israel and the Palestinians is no longer a conflict between the Zionist movement, which came to settle in this country, and the Palestinian people, which inhabited it. No, it has been from the very beginning a part of a world-wide struggle which does not stem from our aspirations and actions. The assault of terrorist Islam on the Western world did not start because of us. Our conscience can be entirely clean - we are among the good guys of this world.

YNet - Ex-Minister Aloni: Barak should be tried by UN

Defense Minister Ehud Barak and former IDF Chief of Staff Dan Halutz should be tried at the International Court of Justice at The Hague for committing "crimes against humanity," former Education Minister Shulamit Aloni says. ... Aloni slams the defense minister over the punitive measures he introduced in the Gaza Strip: "Collective punishment is an inhumane move. Ehud Barak is the most dangerous person in the State of Israel, because of his character, because he's a man of war, and because of his arrogance." ....

During the interview, the former minister said that a week ago she delivered a lecture at the National Security College and told officers: “Why are you making a big fuss over people with blood on their hands? Each one of you has blood on your hands. They throw bombs, and you throw bombs. You have airplanes, but they don't, so they blow themselves up.” Aloni said that one of those in attendance asked her: “You treat their blood like our blood?” The former minister reportedly responded: “Yes, it's just as red.”
