Subject: "Honouring" Stockwell Day!?

Dear Ahmad,

This is to inform you that the Syrian Arab Association of Canada can
neither allow itself to sponsor nor to participate in "honouring"
Stockwell Day.

My understanding was that the event on August 4 was a "meet and greet"
type event that would have allowed me to give Minister Day a "piece of
my mind", so to speak. At least that was my intention when I accepted
your kind invitation.

Having been alarmed by many individuals and organizations who share my
anguish and many concerns about the direction this government has taken
and continues to take, especially with regard to the Palestinian
struggle against the Zionist occupation, I cannot but ask you to kindly
inform Minister Day that we have withdrawn our sponsorship to "Honour"
him, in the absence of a single condemnation of Israel's cold blooded
murder of a whole family picnicking in Gaza.
