| January 2010 Rebuttal to National Post and CJC attacks on IJV and Diana Ralph The National Post published seven prominent articles defaming me and Independent Jewish Voices, between September 17 and 30. In January, 2010 these allegations were repeated as fact by the Canadian Jewish Congress, Canadian Jewish News, and the National Post, [1] this time to serve the CJC's agenda of driving a wedge between IJV and the United Church of Canada, and to pressure the United Church to sideline resolutions critical of Israel which had been adopted at its 2006 and 2009 General Council. September 28, 2006 National Post Article Defaming Liberal Candidate Lesley Hughes As of 6:45 p.m. on Sunday September 28, there are 604 comments on the CBC website regarding Dion's firing of Leslie Hughes. Sample of comments from CBC website: Mr. Dion's disgustingly unjust action regarding Lesley Hughes place him beneath contempt. It serves to illustrate his total unsuitability for public office. I hope Ms Hughes sues him for slander. I used to think Harper was the most dishonorable candidate; now I see that infamy must be shared with Stephan Dion. Fortunately, there is a third candidate in my riding. If there wasn't, I wouldn't even bother to vote. A choice between the Conservatives and the Liberals is no choice at all, since both parties have now demonstrated how unfit they are for office. ____________ She never said the Isrealis master minded it. __________ What ever happened to free speech? Of course the Israeli companies were given a heads-up about the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the U.S. If you want to call it an attack. It was all orchestrated by Bush. So were the CIA That's not news. I think it was a conspiracy by the Coservatives to get Dion elected as Liberal leader. I hope Hughes runs as an independant. ___________ I have noticed on TV that Stephane Dion has a very difficult time speaking English--now this is proof that he also has a very difficult time reading English. If he can screw up a one page blog posting this bad--I wonder what he could do on a real issue.?? On Thursday, September 25th when this issue came up-- a simple apology was enough and by Friday a 11:00AM --he dropped the candidate after pressure from the CJC which represents 1.4% of the Canadian population. He must really want those votes!!!! _________________ What chaps my ass is that a special interest group which puts the interests of another country above Canada can so easily affect the democratic process in Canada. If someone said something about Arabs, do you think they'd have to step down? Now thats power. ______________ This is actually a scandal. Is it now the case that a person in Canada is not able to think, or write honestly, and must be ever on the lookout for people who are determined to be offended? This censorship will undermine our democracy if it is allowed to continue. It appears to me that there are some groups in this country, who prefer to silence people and their right of free speech, by making false accusations of racism. For example, someone claiming to know a negative fact about an Israeli company is immediately targeted and labelled as anti-Semitic, and no further inquiry is required. We just brand the speaker as a racist, and that is the end of the matter. Did anyone think to find out if her claim was true or not? This is a bullying and disgusting tactic, and as Canadian citizens, we should defend this woman, and her right to free speech, regardless of how you feel about her political affiliations. I am disappointed to see that the leader of the liberal party is very quick to support the destruction of free speech. This is very serious, and if Canadians do not demand the right to speak freely, we will end up with a few powerful religious groups who are free to say whatever they wish, no matter how hateful, and the average Canadian will not be able to oppose them. The hate speech laws in Canada appear to favour protection of religious groups, while leaving the targets of religious bigotry and hate to fend for themselves. Our freedom to speak, inquire, and debate is the most important thing that we as a country possess. _____________ "Why is it that anyone who doesn't fully buy in to force fed media, become a loon?" That's a good question! There is still a flat earth society. Just look at how long it took people to get rid of the notion that the earth is flat. Look at the fate of some of the people who first challenged the belief. Not much changes in the way of human behavior. Beware of those who shout the loudest against some idea. They could be flat earth contenders. ______________ To Lesley Hughes, in the rare chance that you weed through the 576 or so previous postings to see this message: PLEASE CONTINUE TO CAMPAIGN IN THIS ELECTION AS AN INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE!!!. The country needs more intelligent, honest and brave people like yourself, and we need to see more independent candidates getting the support they deserve. Despite the seemingly futility of candidates being elected as independents, democracy requires strong people to be willing to do so. If you were running in my riding I would give you my vote, no matter what your political affiliation, because you saw the truth and spread it for others to see, and I would expect you to continue to do so. _______________________ I read the MP's comments and I find nothing anti-semitic about her theories. I seriously doubt her theories, but why does she not have a right to express them. We supposedly live in a society that values free speach, but why is it that when someone expresses an idea that throws into question any religous group or culture it is automatically dismissed as racism. This MP expressed her opinion and she is being fired for it. ____________________ I fully support Freedonfighter12345's view as stated below. The entire 911 episode has left way too many unanswered questions. ______________________ Harper deserves as least as much disgust as Dion for trying to out Lesley Hughes like this. There isn't a single politician in the running that deserves to be Prime Minister! Harper is an agent of the Canadian Jewish Congress. I am starting to miss that scandalously crooked Jean Chretien. At least he had some moral fibre and dignity. _______________ Personally I am MORE offended that she is being deemed an "anti-semite" because she spoke poorly of some jewish companies. This is the kneejerk reaction of Israel to anyone that doesn't support them. She didn't say anything that wasn't true, and once you know some of the things that went on you realize that the WTC tragedy allowed to happen. Rather than discuss her statements, they silence her. My late father was at NORAD on 911, and things were definately not right that day, there was plenty of time to stop what happened, but they were made to stand down AGAINST the training they had received and against the advise of the commanders. Cheney himself thwarted any attempt to stop the attacks. **************************************
