It is time to talk about the unthinkable: Israel is using chemical weapons

For some time now,  people have sent me articles with headlines saying that Israel is using chemical weapons.  I have not opened them. In part, because I receive and overwhelming amount of e-mail but also simply because I could not face it.  I did not want to hear it.  They are probably from unreliable sources anyways" I would tell myself.  But now it is time to talk about the unthinkable.  The number of reports have multipled. Some are from well known and reliable sources.

The Independent (UK) - Mystery of Israel's secret uranium bomb

Did Israel use a secret new uranium-based weapon in southern Lebanon this summer in the 34-day assault that cost more than 1,300 Lebanese lives, most of them civilians?

We know that the Israelis used American "bunker-buster" bombs on Hizbollah's Beirut headquarters. We know that they drenched southern Lebanon with cluster bombs in the last 72 hours of the war, leaving tens of thousands of bomblets which are still killing Lebanese civilians every week. And we now know - after it first categorically denied using such munitions - that the Israeli army also used phosphorous bombs, weapons which are supposed to be restricted under the third protocol of the Geneva Conventions, which neither Israel nor the United States have signed.

Israel admits using phosphorus bombs during war in Lebanon

Israel has acknowledged for the first time that it attacked Hezbollah targets during the second Lebanon war with phosphorus shells. White phosphorus causes very painful and often lethal chemical burns to those hit by it, and until recently Israel maintained that it only uses such bombs to mark targets or territory.

Guardian UK - Gaza doctors say patients suffering mystery injuries after Israeli attacks

"Bodies arrived severely fragmented, melted and disfigured," said Jumaa Saqa'a, a doctor at Shifa hospital, the main casualty hospital in Gaza City. "We found internal burning of organs, while externally there were minute pieces of shrapnel. When we opened many of the injured people we found dusting on the internal organs."

 

PNN - Ministry of Health report on toxic Israeli weapons confirmed by Gaza City medical sources

Director of Public Relations at Gaza City's Al Shifa Hospital, Dr. Juma Al Sakka, confirmed the Palestinian Ministry of Health's report from earlier this week which stated that Israeli forces are using toxic weapons in the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian injuries suggest Israel is using chemical weapons in Gaza

Ma'an- The Palestinian ministry of health revealed on Monday that the Israeli army has used a new type of explosive in its offensive on the Gaza Strip. These explosives contain toxics and radioactive materials which burn and tear the victim's body from the inside and leave long term deformations.

Israeli Cluster Munitions Hit Civilians in Lebanon

(Beirut, July 24, 2006) – Israel has used artillery-fired cluster munitions in populated areas of Lebanon, Human Rights Watch said today. Researchers on the ground in Lebanon confirmed that a cluster munitions attack on the village of Blida on July 19 killed one and wounded at least 12 civilians, including seven children. Human Rights Watch researchers also photographed cluster munitions in the arsenal of Israeli artillery teams on the Israel-Lebanon border.
