March 2010 Dear Mr. Ignatieff: My jaw drops every time I read your statement of March 1, 2010 on Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW). For a man of reputed intelligence, the number of errors and red herrings in it are quite astounding. You must take us all for fools. My rebuttals to your points are in red below. “On university campuses across the country this week, Israeli Apartheid Week will once again attempt to demonize and undermine the legitimacy of the Jewish state. [No, IAW will once again focus on the need for justice and basic human rights for the Palestinian people . If anything, it is Israel 's policies that demonize it.] read more Quote from Michael Ignatieff in 2002: “When I looked down at the West Bank, at the settlements like Crusader forts occupying the high ground, at the Israeli security cordon along the Jordan river closing off the Palestinian lands from Jordan, I knew I was not looking down at a state or the beginnings of one, but at a Bantustan, one of those pseudo-states created in the dying years of apartheid to keep the African population under control.” (The Guardian UK) [Clearly Ignatieff has sold the Liberal Party to the Lobby.]
November 16, 2009 Letter to Liberal MP Bob Rae regarding his remarks on the Goldstone Report In your response to a question from the audience on the Goldstone Report, you indicated that you did not support its further consideration by the UN or the International Criminal Court, and I heard you give the following five reasons....
October 29, 2009 Liberal MP Irwin Cotler is probably the only current or former "Human Rights Critic" ofany political party in the world to be publicly criticized by a world leading human rights group. The rebuttal below by Human Rights Watch executive director Kenneth Roth appeared the Jerusalem post in response to an op-ed by Irwin Cotler. Jerusalem Post - Right of Reply: Don't Smear the Messenger Irwin Cotler's attack in these pages on Judge Richard Goldstone's UN-mandated investigation of the conflict is of a piece with these efforts ("The Goldstone Mission - Tainted to the core," August 17 and 19). Rather than addressing the sad reality in Gaza, he effectively offers an apology for Israeli abuse.
October 8, 2009 In January 2005 Jim Terral wrote an article debating the influence of the Liberal Parliamentarians for Israel. Although this group seems to have been disbanded, it is not because they have been rejected by the Liberal Party but rather because they have taken over the Liberal Party. Jim Terral - In the Shadows of the Big Headlines The Canada-Israel Industrial Research and Development Foundation (CIIRDF) is a binational organization which promotes collaborative research and development projects and the commercialization of innovative technology. Export Development Canada (EDC) is open for insurance and financing in Israel. There is non-stop daily air service between Toronto and Tel Aviv. The Liberal Parliamentarians for Israel recommended that the "Canadian government should cease using the phrase 'end the cycle of violence,'" and replace it with the phrase “reduce tensions.” (Austin et al. Jun 6 03). The Liberal Parliamentarians call this a "rhetorical" change, but the substance of it is Canada's long-standing view that both Israel and the Palestinians are responsible for the violence. September 25, 2009 Are Liberal MP Irwin Cotler's Israeli Army enlisted children violating Canada's Foreign Enlistment Act?

excerpts from Canada's Foreign Enlistment Act: Offence to enlist with a foreign state at war with a friendly state 3. Any person who, being a Canadian national, within or outside Canada, voluntarily accepts or agrees to accept any commission or engagement in the armed forces of any foreign state at war with any friendly foreign state or, whether a Canadian national or not, within Canada, induces any other person to accept or agree to accept any commission or engagement in any such armed forces is guilty of an offence. R.S., c. F-29, s. 4. February 20, 2009 More lunatic ramblings from the defacto leader of the Liberal Party. Comments from readers at the end of this article are worth reading as well. National Post - Irwin Cotler: The new anti-Semitism "In the past, the most dangerous anti-Semites were those who wanted to make the world Judenrein, 'free of Jews.' Today, the most dangerous anti-Semites might be those who want to make the world Judenstaatrein, 'free of a Jewish state.'" There is ample evidence to indicate that he is continuing to advocate for Israel on the Canadian taxpayers payroll.
January 6, 2009 Toronto Star - Ignatieff says Israel must be allowed to defend itself [COMMENT - At this point this Wannabee Liberal is no more. There is no hope that the remaining voices of reason within the party can have any influence over the Zionists. If MPs such as Borys Wrzesnewskyj and Mark Holland who have supported Human Rights and International Law over the Apartheid state will not resign from the Liberal party immediately, then they have no integrity and do not deserve the support of from their constituents. This writer has it from a reliable source that Liberal MPs have been told that if they speak at Gaza solidarity events, their nomination papers would not be signed. Why would an MPs with a conscience want to be members of a party that prevents them from speaking against genocide? Are they any better than those who for whatever misguided reason truly believe that Israel is justified? Silence is complicity and MPs that do not stand up against the Gaza massacre do not merit our support. A vote for them is a vote for the Liberal Genocide party. January 1, 2009 Statement by Michael Ignatieff, Leader of the Official Opposition, on the situation in Israel and the Gaza Strip [There is not one word in this statement urging Israel to stop its indiscrimate bombing of police stations, Mosques, apartment buildings and civilian infrastructure nor does the Liberal party take this opportunity to criticize the Harper government's statement. The NDP statement on the other hand refers to " The continuing airstrikes by Israel on civilians in the Gaza strip" and calls on " the Government of Canada to immediately call for an end to the aerial bombing of Gaza, the blockade of aid to civilians and the indiscriminate rocket attacks on Israel." The Green Party also acknowledges the severe situation in Gaza and refreshingly, proposes a plan for action to solve the problem. ]
