Peace activists and musician David Rovics refused entry to Canada

Despite Canadian authorities barring David Rovics from entering Canada, a reception to honor him went ahead as planned at the Palestinian Community Centre in Vancouver B.C.  David is a Jewish-American singer/songwriter/activist and is one of the leading anti-war voices in North America supporting the Palestinian people and all struggling peoples around the world through music about peace, justice, equality, sustainability.

David spoke to the people gathered at the Centre by phone and explained how he had been harrassed by Canadian officials since 2001, and that the excuse this time was that he didn't have the required "work permit".  He was also banned for a full year from re-entering Canada. The meeting called on all social justice activists to contact their MPs and the Canadian government to protest this outrageous action.

David was presented with an appreciation award and the meeting also heard some of his writings and songs  (see www.davidrovics.com ).
