Martin/Schneiderman/AIPAC-The Hijacking of Canada's Foreign Policy and the
Destruction of Representative Democracy

by Ron Saba, Montreal Planet Magazine

(Montreal December 12, 2005)  Prior to becomng Mid-East Advisor to Minister of Foreign Affairs Pettigrew, Jonathan Schneiderman  "had been a special assistant to Paul Martin since he became prime minister a year ago, and previously worked on his campaign in the leadership race, as well on his earlier bid in 1990, when he lost to Jean Chrétien. In the interim, Schneiderman worked for Martin at his company, Canada Steamship Lines."  "He managed Thomas Hecht's unsuccessful challenge for the presidency of Canadian Jewish Congress in the mid-1990s, and was regional director of the Canadian Friends of Bar-Ilan University." Thomas Hecht is the founder of the Israeli think tank BESA, which is affiliated with the Political Studies department at Bar-Ilan University, Israel and is dedicated to the national security and foreign policy of Israel.  Justice Minister Irwin Cotler has acted as an International Academic Advisor to BESA.

While advising Pettigrew on Mid-East Affairs, Government of Canada expense records indicate that the only trip Schneiderman took was to attend the AIPAC Policy Conference in Washington in May of this year.( View Foreign Affairs – Travel and Hospitality Expense Report ).

AIPAC is the largest pro-Israel lobby group in the US.  Two of AIPAC's senior officers have been indicted in the US for passing classified US government information to Israel.

During the time that Schneiderman has been advising Pettigrew on Mid-East Affairs, Canada has reversed four long standing votes at the UN to join the US, Israel and a handful of tiny Pacific Islands in opposing international law and world opinion on a just Mid-East settlement (Source: Toronto Star )

Key fundraisers for Paul Martin are Gerry Schwartz and Larry Tannenbaum who are active mebers of the pro-Israel Lobby in Canada.

Purely coincidental?
